The process of making my art feels much like solving a puzzle, unfolding before me with each newly-found fragment. I use scraps of paper material for my collage work - images that come from newspapers, old magazines, books, junk mail, old calendars, playbills, wine bottle labels, and packing materials - paper in its most mundane and forgotten form.
In these humble filaments of humanity I toggle between a perspective of our grandeur and smallness, feeling both the enormity of our task of finding a new way to live and relate, and the importance/non-importance of each individual human effort. I also hope that my artistic work reflects the awkward wonder of our species - in all our pain, our conflicts, our complexities - and to remind us, in some visceral, human way - that we are, in connection with all other forms of life on this planet, a species worth saving.
